In short: Diskloft never sends anything anywhere. It looks at your files on your Mac, shows you what takes up space and removes only what you choose. There is no account, no analytics and no network connection in the app.
What Diskloft reads
To measure disk usage, Diskloft reads the names, sizes and dates of files and folders in your home folder. To find duplicate files it reads their contents and computes a fingerprint (SHA-256) on your Mac. None of this leaves your Mac and nothing is kept after you quit the app, except the settings listed below.
Permissions
- Home folder access. The Mac App Store version runs in Apple’s App Sandbox. The first time you scan, macOS asks you to choose your home folder. Diskloft keeps that permission as a bookmark on your Mac so it doesn’t have to ask again. You can revoke it at any time in Diskloft’s Settings.
- Full Disk Access (optional). macOS protects some folders, such as Mail, Messages, Safari and the Trash. If you grant Full Disk Access in System Settings, Diskloft can include them in its measurements. Diskloft never removes mailboxes, messages or browser data.
What Diskloft stores
Your preferences (size thresholds, excluded folders, whether to move items to the Trash) and the home folder bookmark are stored in the app’s own container on your Mac. Deleting the app removes them.
Network, analytics and ads
Diskloft makes no network requests. It contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking code, and it doesn’t use cookies or identifiers.
Purchases
Diskloft is a paid app sold by Apple on the Mac App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your payment details or your Apple Account information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, Turkey’s KVKK or California’s CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold about you. Because the app sends us nothing, we hold no data about you from the app. If you write to us, see “Support messages” below.
Children
Diskloft is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from children.
Support messages
If you contact us through the support form or by email, we receive your name, email address, the app and topic, the device and app version if you give them, your message, the page you sent it from, and your browser’s user agent. The form message is delivered to our support inbox through Brevo, our email delivery provider, and used only to answer you; it is never used for marketing or shared with anyone else. To prevent abuse, the server keeps a short-lived, hashed record of the sending IP address for 15 minutes.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date.
